N.E.X.U.S.: A Network for First-Year Science Students at Penn State

N.E.X.U.S. is designed to support first-year students in the College of Science at Penn State through peer mentoring and orientation assistance. Our goal is to help new students transition smoothly by connecting them to resources, guiding them on course selections, and sharing exciting opportunities in science. Join us for fun science events, make lasting friendships, and become a vital part of our community. If you're friendly, outgoing, and want to make a difference, apply to be a mentor and help shape the future of your peers!

  1. N.E.X.U.S TRANSITION HELPERS FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS IN THE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE

  2. Network for EXcellence in Undergraduate Science • Original goal: Assist in Orientation Day for the College of Science students • Went well and I still talk to the kids I met on that day! What is Nexus?

  3. Coordinate orientation day and get 10-20 kids to lead yourself • Help with first year transition questions like classes to take and what’s cool about Penn State science • Start a mentor program, get mentees* or womentees if you’re hilarious • Hold science events • Basically be the primary bridge for what the college of science has to offer and current students. New goals

  4. Suggestions: • You are in the college of science • You are academically successful • You feel that you have great advice and are generally friendly and outgoing • You want to make a bunch of new science friends! Who should apply
