  1. Hallo! This is dance! contemporary dance as a method of aggression preventing. Children and youth. Presentation prepared for the international conference in Adıyaman (Turkey) as apart of the EU project European Network of Trainers for Nonviolence and Resilience of Young people 7th - 11th march 2013

  2. Place: Workshops took place in Social Help Centre in Polkowice. Terms: September – December 2012. Group: children and youth geographically disadvantaged (small town).

  3. Idea: Nowadays reality forces youth to „work mostly with its head” – physical culture and development through the movement is disregard. This situation gives us tension and negative feelings. They often go out by aggression and violence. Contemporary dance breaks this deadlock. It gives an opportunity to creative development without competition on the contrary for examplesport.

  4. This kind of dance is open… This kind of dance is open for others life and art disciplines. It permits participants to use their earlier art (for ex. theatre, classical dance, music) and sport (for ex. capoeira, gymnastics) experiences. Contemporary dance has not clearly defined structure (opposite for ex. to classical dance).

  5. Mostly it bases on improvisation which later gives a composition based on individual experiences of participants. One of the main rules is organic movement. This is the body to lead us, not our head/brain.

  6. This kind of movement workshop helps to restore balance between intellectual and physical development. It has incredibly high influence to define positive life aims which exclude violence.

  7. Aims: • motor and emotional growth • increase of creative expression • imagination developing • body awareness • self confidence • self-assertion • show how to relieve negative feelings through creative movement
