The impact we looked for • Practitioners at level 5 & 6 have greater awareness of EP • Practitioners at level 5 & 6 have improved skills and/or learning through use of EP • Practitioners at level 5 & 6 have changed their practice as a result of using EP • Senior Charge Nurses and Senior AHPs are able to use EP to support development of individual staff and teams • Teams have changed practice as a result of using Effective Practitioner • Key stakeholders’ expectations of Effective Practitioner are met/exceeded.

  3. Evaluation methods • An online survey with practitioners • In-depth case studies with four of the funded projects; • Follow-up interviews with key stakeholders • Review of the final reports from all the funded projects.

Key findings from the online survey • The use of Effective Practitioner is not restricted to the resource’s target audience of Band 5/6 nurses/midwives/AHPs • Practitioners find the following aspects the most useful • signposting to other resources (46%) • the learning activities (41%) • self-assessment tools (41%) • Effective Practitioner has helped with: • support with KSF (81%) • learning, teaching and supervision (57%) • improved evidence-based practice (46%) • leadership and management (31%) • clinical practice (29%)

What works? • Working on a specific issue or problem • Support from a SCN, Senior AHP or Practice Educator/Practice Education Lead • Help to navigate the site linked to the specific issue • Using EP in relation to KSF/PDP • Finding the time to learn and reflect together as a team • Buy-in from senior management • Sharing ideas about how EP is being used
