  2. Subjects • Nonfiction books are grouped by subjects. • Some of our favorite books are: • Animal books • Poetry books • Drawing books • Joke Books

  3. Each Subject has it’s own number. • Each number is 3 digits long. (Sometimes these numbers are longer with a decimal point. We will learn the longer numbers after you learn decimals in math.)

  4. Animals Books • The number for animals is 590

  5. Poetry Books • The number for poetry is 811

  6. Drawing Books • The number for drawing books is 743

  7. Joke Books • The number for joke books is 818

  8. There are lots of subjects …..and lots of numbers. 790 Sports 900 History & Geogaphy 580 Plants 200 Religion 597 Fish 780 Music 394 Holidays

  9. What is the number? • How do you know the call number for the subject? • The computer will tell you.

  10. If you can count….. • You can find a book on the shelf.

  11. Go see what you can find… • There are books about everything!
