  4. What is bullying? Leaving someone out Calling someone name Bullying is… when someone keeps doing or saying things to have power over another person. Making fun of someone Ignoring someone Punching, shoving or tripping someone Punching or kicking someone Putting down someone Following or stalking someone Threatening someone Spreading harmful stories about someone Talking, hiding or damaging someone’s things. Persuading others to bully someone

  5. TYPES OF BULLYING..SCHOOL BULLYING.. • 1. Physical bullying • 2. Verbal bullying • 3. Indirect bullying • 4. Social alienation • 5. Intimidation • 6. Cyber bullying

  6. Cyber bullying • Cyber bullying is done by sending messags, pictures, or information using electronic media, computers (email & instant messages), or cell phones (text messaging & voicemail). For instance, if you sent a picture of a snake in an email to a person because you know that they are afraid of snakes, that would be an example of cyber bullying.

  7. Physical bullying.. • Physical bullying includes any physical contact that would hurt or injure a person like: Hitting, stealing, tripping, hair pulling, breaking someone’s things and pushing. • Taking something that belongs to someone else and destroying it would also be considered a type of physical bullying. In elementary and middle schools, 30.5% of all bullying is physical.

  8. Emotional Bullying Emotional bullying is deliberately causing distress resulting in someone developing low self-esteem, avoiding situations and becoming withdrawn (quieter than usual).  Emotional bullying can be: spreading rumours. excluding the individual, for example, from games; talking about others behind their back; intentionally hurting someone's feelings. Emotional bullying can be just as hurtful as physical bullying.  It can affect people in many ways and it is important to be aware of the signs.

  9. Verbal bullying… You are stupid.. I hate you.. Everyone hates you.. • Verbal bullying is name-calling, making offensive remarks, or joking about a person's religion, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or the way they look. For example, if there was a group of kids who made fun of another kid because he couldn't run as fast as everyone else, it would be an example of verbal bullying. 46.5% of all bullying in schools is the verbal type. Verbal aggression is when a bully teases someone. It can also include a bully making verbal threats of violence or aggression against someone's personal property.

  10. Social Alienation Social alienation is when a bully excludes someone from a group on purpose. It also includes a bully spreading rumors, and also making fun of someone by pointing out their differences.

  11. Indirect Bullying indirect bullying includes spreading rumors or stories about someone, telling others about something that was told to you in private, and excluding others from groups. An example would be if you started a rumor that a boy in your class likes playing with dolls, and if the reason that you made up the story was because you thought it was funny. This would be indirect bullying. Indirect bullying accounts for 18.5% of all bullying.

  12. Intimidation • Intimidation is when a bully threatens someone else and frightens that person enough to make him or her do what the bully wants.

  13. What leads children to bullying? • stress & Unger • strained parental relationships • poor academic performance • unsupportive peer networks or anxiety regarding physical appearance • insecurities • they have been victims of abusive behavior

  14. BEFORE YOU BULLY SOMEONE… THINK…

  15. HOWTOAVOIDBULLYING: 1. Do not draw attention to yourself (e.g. try to act "cool", or do outrageous things), this makes it more satisfying for the bully to bring you down. 2. Do not fight back! This is inevitably the worse thing you can do when dealing with bullies. This will create more repercussions, which is the last thing you want. 3. Don't react to the bully's rude remarks. If he or she calls you names or bags you out, don't ignore him or her, just smile and walk off. You need to make sure that you do not express any distress or the bully will thrive off this.

  16. 5. Bear in mind that if the bully has a group of friends that follow him or her, it's most likely they are his or her friends involuntarily. Try to make small talk with them when they are alone. Listen to them and be genuinely interested in what they are saying. After all, the more people you have on your side the better. 6. Do not give them the attention they clearly want. Bullies want attention, as well as them being jealous, mad, disliked, and possibly insecure. Know that many, many people in this world think that the only reason why bullies act "that way" is because they are insecure about themselves. This could be true, and it could not be true. Either way, keep in mind that they want attention. 7. Kill them with kindness. This means to say something nice "back to them" when they insult you. For example, if they make fun of your hair, which is probably the least they will do, tell them that you like their hair as well. Whatever you do, be sure to stand up for yourself and others, but don't be mean. You will get in trouble…

  17. Celebrities Opinion Many celebrities around the world have made anti-bullying program, to help children and teens which are being bullied. This is a nice way of sending the message across, so it can become global. This is what the band one direction did…. Apparently, the British boy band have signed on as brand ambassadors for a back-to-school collection around the theme of anti-bullying. According to the press release, "a portion of the proceeds from each sale will be used to fund an anti-bullying educational program to encourage kinder behaviour among students."

  18. HoW DOES BULLYING MAKE YOU FeeL? ALONE NOT SAFE SICK SILLY MAD NERVOUS SCARED SAD EMBARRASSED CONFUSED WANTING TO STAY AT HOME TIRED ANGRY

  19. We can all be a team! IF everyone tries to accept the others there won’t be bullying… so try it!
