Credit(s) earned on completion of this program will be reported to AIA/CES for AIA members. Certificates of Completion for both AIA members and non-AIA members are available upon request.This program is registered with AIA/CES for continuing professional education. As such, it does not include content that may be deemed or construed to be an approval or endorsement by the AIA of any material of construction or any method or manner of handling, using, distributing, or dealing in any material or product. Questions related to specific materials, methods, and services will be addressed at the conclusion of each presentation.

Learning Objectives Phinnize Fisher Middle School of Engineering At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Witness state of the art STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) labs to understand how the labs influence the education of the students. Learn about the planning process and how STEAM blends with a traditional middle program. Learn about the sustainable features of the building which is seeking LEED Silver. Learn how the new school blends with the International Campus of Automotive Research (ICAR) and the design criteria of the campus.

  3. Learning Objectives M.T. Anderson Support Center At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Explain the various departments required to run a large school district and how the design has worked to put them all together. Learn how to design a state of the art computer room with raised floor, halon fire suppression and emergency generator. Learn about the redundancy planned in the computer system and the safeguards that have been built. Learn how former school facilities can be adapted to meet administrative needs.

Learning Objectives Rules and Regulations for School Facilities At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Learn about changes in the Office of School Facilities Design Guide with a focus on safety and welfare of the occupants. Learn how school districts and architects may utilize OSF's "Best Practices" Guidelines. Learn when school must involve the Office of School Facilities and how OSF's main goal is to protect the safety and welfare of the students. Learn how the state utilizes the International Building Code and other codes, regulations and standards for safety.

Learning Objectives Integrated Project Delivery Systems At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Learn about various types of construction methods used and approved for public schools in South Carolina. Learn the differences between Integrated Project Delivery and other procurement methods. Learn the advantages of having a contractor on a project during the planning process. Learn how the design team, the contractor and the Owner work together throughout design and construction and the roles of each.

  6. Learning Objectives School Security: What Works and What Does Not At the end of this program, participants will be able to: Learn the best way to secure the main office/entrance to the school for both secure and welcoming environment. Learn how to protect the perimeter of the school from intruders yet allow classes to go outside for activities. Learn how to make school corridors inspiring, yet secure. Learn the importance and role of school resource officers. Learn different procedures for locking down schools and notifying law enforcement.
