  2. Objectives • Understand why planning is important • Identify the divisions and standards of the official FFA Program of Activities • Describe the FFA Committee structure • Plan FFA activities as a committee

  3. Why Plan? Can you have a successful FFA Chapter without planning? Do all FFA advisors plan at acceptable levels? Failing to plan is planning to fail

  5. Keys to Planning • Involve students • Develop systematic approach to planning • Plan early for following school year • Summer Retreat • First Week of school

  6. Divisions • Student Development • Promote personal and group activities that improve life skills. • Chapter Development • Encourage students to work together. • Community Development • Cooperate with other groups to make the community a better place to live and work.

  10. Using Committees to Plan Several Potential Methods: • Separate Committee for Each Standard (15 Committees) (Recommended) • Separate Committee for Each Division (3 committees) • One Committee for Whole POA (often officer team)

  11. How to get started • Forms • POA-1 – used to present activities to the chapter for approval • POA-2 – used to further plan each activity • POA-3 – used to record activities of each committee • POA-4 – used to evaluate each activity after completion

  13. Your task • Your Learning Committee will serve as a POA committee. • Come up with four activities for your standard. • Include: • Completion Date • Estimated Income • Estimated Costs • Each Committee Submit • POA-1 – Outline all four activities • POA-2 – 1 page for each activity
