User Evaluation of Wheelchair Securement Systems in Accessible Transit Vehicles

This study evaluates three wheelchair securement systems, focusing on their effectiveness in large accessible transit vehicles. The TDX SP power wheelchair from Invacare, featuring four tie-down securement points, a universal design interface geometry adaptor, and a frame-mounted pelvic restraint, was utilized. Researchers Van Roosmalen, Karg, Hobson, Turkovich, and Porach analyze user experiences and system performance to improve safety and accessibility in public transport. The findings contribute valuable insights for enhancing wheelchair securement in transit environments.
