Future Plans and Support for the MDSS Road Weather Management Initiative

The MDSS Stakeholder Meeting held in Falls Church, VA on August 10-11, 2006, was crucial for discussing the future of the Road Weather Management system. Paul Pisano, Team Leader at FHWA, emphasized that the initiative is far from over. Key topics included ongoing technology transfers, upcoming enhancements to the MDSS prototype, and planned stakeholder meetings. The release of version 5.0 is anticipated in summer 2007 alongside cost/benefit analyses and national summits focused on surface transportation weather. Active involvement across the transportation community remains critical.
