Cooloola Coast Mapping Project • Increase community awareness of local native vegetation commonly referred to as wallum • Identify, assess, map and monitor plant species occurrence, populations and health • Map and monitor fire occurrence and species re-emergence after fire • Map and monitor weed species • Map and monitor EVR species • Build capacity within the community in on-ground monitoring techniques eg. GPS, GIS use and reporting • Collect seed samples for research and propagation

Improved and ongoing partnership capacity with Cityfarm Tin Can Bay; Rainbow Beach State School; Tin Can Bay P-10 School; QPWS, Rainbow Beach; DNR & W Fire Management and Cooloola Coast Fire Management Group; Gympie Regional Council (weeds & pest management, parks & gardens, conservation partnerships). • Initiated the development of a local mapping database. This has identified future projects and has supported funding strategies during the term of the project and for future projects e.g. • Gambling Fund Grant for mapping equipment and presentations; Mitre 10 schools landcare grant for laminated Wallum Species ID cards; Council environment levy grants for weed mapping/eradication and pest monitoring, plant health & management (pandanus); sponsorship of 2 Greencorp teams to continue mapping and monitoring and possible EVR Projects. • Identified that information sharing with other groups is minimal and that the results of this project needs to be more interactive. Arc GIS may not be the most appropriate format for volunteer organisations? • Improved local knowledge of wallum and wetland species, seed collection sources and propagation techniques.
