Dual Gantry Imaging: Combining CT and PET Scanning for Enhanced Diagnostics

This advanced medical imaging technique involves both CT and PET cameras housed in a single gantry, providing a comprehensive assessment of patient conditions. The patient is required to fast and undergo FDG administration approximately one hour prior to the scan. The CT scan is performed first, lasting about one minute, during which X-rays are recorded as they pass through the body. The PET scan follows, lasting about 20 minutes, capturing 511 keV photons emitted from the body. This integrated approach enhances diagnostic accuracy and allows for better treatment planning.
