  1. PREMIO V93T / V94S Technical Training Calvin Chen

  2. VIA Chipset Overview • Next to Intel, VIA is the second major PC chipset manufacturer in the market • VIA has two Pentium III class chipsets available • Their marketing names are: Apollo Pro 133 and Apollo Pro 133A • VIA 693X is the Apollo Pro 133, while VIA 694X is the Apollo Pro 133A • Support for true PC133 SDRAM DIMM

  3. Major Differences Between 693X and 694X • The 693X only supports AGP 2X • The 694X is capable of both AGP 2X/4X • The 694X comes with VIA AC97 business audio • The 693X has no onboard audio

  4. VIA and Intel Chipset Comparison Table • Major chipset features comparison between the Intel 440X, 820, VIA 693X, and VIA 694X • The Intel 810E is excluded because it does not compete directly with the VIA Apollo Pro 133 family

  5. PREMIO V93T and V94S • What’s in a name? • V93T breakdown: “V” is for VIA chipset; “93” is from the 693X chipset; and “T” means slot 1 • V94S breakdown: “V” is for VIA chipset; “94” is from 694X chipset; and “S” is for socket 370 • Following our established marketing naming scheme: TV93T means midtower chassis, while DV93T means desktop chassis • Likewise for TV94S and DV94S means midtower and desktop chassis, respectively

  6. PREMIO V93T (210629) • The V93T is an ATX slot 1 system board • It has the following slots: 1 AGP 2X, 5 PCI, 2 ISA, and 1 shared PCI/ISA • Three SDRAM DIMM slots • Maximum of 1.5GB of ECC or non-ECC SDRAM • Support for 100MHz and 133MHz FSB CPUs • Support for true PC133 SDRAM • Support ATA-66 IDE HDD • Two USB, two serial port, and one parallel

  7. PREMIO V94S (210630) • The V94S is an ATX socket 370 system board • It has the following slots: 1 AGP 2X/4X, 5 PCI, 1 ISA, 1 AMR, and 1 shared PCI/ISA • Three SDRAM DIMM slots • Maximum of 1.5GB of ECC or non-ECC SDRAM • Support for 100MHz and 133MHz FSB CPUs • Support for true PC133 SDRAM • Support ATA-66 IDE HDD • Onboard VIA AC97 business audio • Two USB, two serial ports, and one parallel port

  8. Summary • Both V93T and V94S supports ECC memory • Maximum memory for both systems is 1.5GB • Support for true PC133 SDRAM • This means you MUST use PC133 SDRAM if you’re using a 133MHz front side bus (FSB) processor • V94S supports both AGP 2X/4X, while V93T only supports up to AGP 2X • V94S comes with onboard VIA AC97 audio
