  1. Why read? By: Nick Crawley

  2. Before Unit I hate reading this book on my free time Will Crispin get caught by Ayecliffe What is for dinner What else is for homework Crispin

  3. Question to be answered? What motivates kids to want to read certain books and genres of books? What is a motivation for watching a movie on a certain genre?

  4. Procedures I will ask students if they would or wouldn't read or watch a movie in the scenario given. The scenarios for my survey is a prize and the prize for each survey was going out to ice cream for one night. Also one day you are board would you pick up the book and read it in your free time. Finally is extra credit in one class. 3 boys 3 girls from Mrs. Kelly's class. Each person will answer yes or no for all of them.

  5. List of Books • Hunger Games • Percy Jackson • Outsiders • Twilight • Harry Potter • Matt Christopher • A Series of Unfortunate Events • Fiction Books • Non Fiction Books

  6. Manipulated variables Scenarios Books Genders

  7. List Of Books • Hunger Games • Percy Jackson • Outsiders • Twilight • Harry Potter • Matt Christopher • A Series of Unfortunate Events • Fiction Books • Non Fiction Books • Poetry • Helen Keller • Where the Sidewalk Ends • Marley and Me • A child Called “It” • Auto Biography • Fiction Movie • Non-Fiction Movie • Auto Biography Movie

  8. Controlled Variable • Books for each test subject • Explanation of scenarios • Grade of student • Scenarios for each student

  9. Prediction I will predict that extra credit will have the most yeses. Free time will have the least Prize will come in the middle

  10. Extra Credit Results

  11. Free Time Results

  12. Prize Results

  13. During Unit This is a waste of time Will I play good in my baseball game Why didn’t he get infected with the Black Death? Is that an Angel singing in the church? Crispin

  14. Questioning my results After my first set of research I had some more questions The main question was what is the comparison between reading a certain genre compared to the movie based on that genre I tested once again but added a few more books and the options of movies

  15. Fiction Books Overall

  16. Fiction Movie Overall

  17. Overview for fiction As you could see the results were the same straight yeses so a fiction movie or book would have about the same reaction to spending your time on that activity

  18. Non-Fiction Book Overall

  19. Non-Fiction Movie Overall

  20. Overview Non-fiction Not like the fiction area there is a large distance between the two outcomes. I guess my test subjects would not like to spend time reading it but would spend only two hours watching a non-fiction movie

  21. Autobiography Book Results

  22. Autobiography Movie Result

  23. Auto Biography Overview I was not surprised with these results because most auto biography books can be long and boring so someone would not spend a week reading something they don’t enjoy. Compared to a two to three hour movie where they can just sit back and relax.

  24. Recommendations I recommend for teachers if you want students to want to read give them the choice of extra creditFor parents if you want your kids to read this summer motivate them with a night of ice cream If you want the best chance of having the child or student actually enjoy the book give them the choice of a fiction book. Last point if you want your student or child do learn the information but they are busy. If they have a movie on that book offer that as a option.

  25. After Unit I wonder if ***** **** likes me <3 Was the priest telling Crispin about Ayecliffe fore shadowing Why is Ayecliffe in Great Wexly Crispin Will they make it past the guards on duty.

  26. The End Keep Reading My Friends
