  2. Dean Downing A. Thomas Meet the Dean Downing A. Thomas Associate Provost and Dean of International Programs He is associate provost for academic affairs and dean of International Programs and a professor in the UI's French and Italian Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. 

  3. International Programs • International Programs (IP) functions as a catalyst for internationalization and a hub for international activities at the University of Iowa • IP provides support for internationally-oriented teaching, research, creative work and community engagement.

International Programs Services offered by International Programs: • International Student and Scholar Services • Study Abroad advising • Academic Support/Network through IP Centers and Programs • Communications and Relations Services • Grants and Funding support • Sign and oversee external agreements (MOUs)

IP Grant Support • Services provided by Grant Administrator: • Internal routing (UIRIS e-routing for DSP) • Reminders on Compliance Questions (IRB; COI; Export Controls) • Proofreading narratives • Review application guidelines • Developing budgets (for grants, fellowships and LOIs) • Grant submissions via Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) • DSP will not submit grants until the UIRIS routing is complete • Grant Writing • Funding searches • Getting to know a faculty interests and professional goals • Working with DSP (provides great search support)
