The Risks of Obesity • Coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure • Cancer of breast, prostate, colon, uterus, liver, kidney, pancreas, esophagus (cancer mortality 50-60% higher) • Stroke • Hypertension, diabetes mellitus, high cholesterol • Arthritis, gout • Gallbladder disease • Incontinence, poor female reproductive health • Sleep apnea, asthma, other respiratory problems

  8. USPSTF Evidence-Based Recommendation • Offer or refer obese adults and children aged 6 years and older to comprehensive, intensive behavioral interventions to promote improvement in weight status

  9. Conclusion Given the overwhelming problem and limited resources , health care providers need good evidence to guide the treatment of obesity and its related conditions!
