  1. Daily Five The Personal Pronoun A personal pronoun refers to the one speaking (first person), the one spoken to (second person), or the one spoken about (third person). State which person (1st, 2nd, 3rd) the pronoun is referring to in the following sentences. Chapbooks got their name from the chapmen who sold them. Have you heard of chapmen? They traveled around and sold chapbooks. People bough inexpensive chapbooks for their own entertainment. A chapbook was small; its pages measured about 5” by 4”.

  2. Daily Five The Reflexive Pronoun A reflexive pronoun refers to the subject of a sentence. A reflexive pronoun is necessary to the basic meaning of the sentence. Circle the reflexive pronoun in each sentence. I saved the last apple for myself. That kite is flying by itself! Please help yourself to some juice. I heard myself on the tape recorder for the first time. The class arranged themselves in a large circle.

  3. Daily Five Intensive Pronouns emphasize the word to which it refers. An intensive pronoun is unnecessary to the basic meaning of the sentence. Ex. She herself built the bookcase. (The intensive pronoun herselfemphasizer she. Herself is not necessary to the basic meaning of the sentence. Underline the Intensive Pronoun in each sentence. Kim had prepared the lunch herself. We ourselves had not seen the exhibit at the museum. Did Jimmy lock the door himself before leaving home? You yourselves know what great actions you are capable of performing. The mayor himself made the announcement.
