  3. NL: afvoerputje van Europa! • Van sedimenten tot vervuild water! • Problemen niet afwentelen op NL. • Problemen internationaal oplossen!

  4. Internationale commissie ter bescherming van de Rijn (ICBR). • In 1950 begon NL met ICBR • Tot de jaren 70 de Rijn ernstig vervuild! • Milieubeleid? • Dat woord kende ze niet! • In 1972 eerste Rijnconferentie (rivier schoner maken en overstromingsgevaar aanpakken!) • Intergouvernementele samenwerking (=ICBR) • Behalve de officiële intergouvernementele instanties word er vaak samengewerkt met NGO’s (Non-gouvernementele organisaties) • Denk hierbij aan: Greenpeace of WNF etc.

  5. 13e Rijnconferentie 2001 • Beleid: • Waterkwaliteit verbeterd (nog meer verbeteren) • Tot 2020: verbetering ecosystemen, hoogwaterpreventie, verbetering waterkwaliteit en bescherming grondwater. • Actieplan hoogwater (zie volgende dia!)

  6. Actieplan Hoogwater • Na aanleiding van 1995: • Vermindering van het risico op schade • Vermindering van de extreem hoge waterstanden • Grote bewustwording gevaren bevolking • Verbeteren waarschuwingssystemen
