  8. Example 1 The Coles obtained the loan of $1,800 at 8 percent for 6 months shown in Figure 8.1 on page 294. Show the calculation for the first payment. What is the interest? What is the payment to principal? What is the new principal?

  9. Example 1 Answer: Step 1 Find the interest. Principal × Rate × Time $1,800.00 × 8% × 1/12 = $12.00
