  1. “Much More”

  2. Salvation………Accomplished Factongoing process • John 3:16 ….. Whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. • John 3:36 he who believes in the son has everlasting life • John 5:24.... he who hears My word and believes in the Him who sent me has everlasting life • Romans 10:9 if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead you will be saved.

  3. Eternal Life Now • Blessed assurance Jesus is mine

  4. Much more 2 Corinthians 5:17,21 We shall be saved by His life! God wants you to know that he’s not just giving you forgiveness -- He’s offering you restoration. Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me…

  5. Ongoing Process • Romans 12:2 be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind • 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image • Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. • Salvation is not a passive experience… It’s a dynamic experience!!

  6. Paul’s themes • Having been……… We shall be • Romans 5: 1,9,10 • Much more • Romans 5: 18,19 6:1,2,6,7,8,11 Reckon count…..choose to believe Dead to self and alive to Christ

  7. Romans 5:19 • Bill LiversidgeVictory in Jesus “the only people I know who are being made righteous--- who are growing up into holiness and maturity in Jesus -- are those who are daily appreciating that God has declared them to be righteous through the obedience of Jesus. What self doubting and guilt trips believers can avoid every day of their lives, if they believe that through the obedience of the one they are guaranteed the privilege of being made righteous! They won’t have to feel lost or outside of grace every time they make a mistake.”

  8. Because of grace we don’t have to spend our lives measuring how well we’re doing, monitoring our behavior, worrying about our progress, and constantly asking,” am I good enough.”

  9. When you understand that God’s full salvation includes not just being declared righteous , but being made righteous as well, you will never have to ask yourself the question, “Am I good enough?” Why? Because you are depending not on your own obedience and goodness-- but in Paul’s words on the, “obedience of the One.”

  10. Baby steps • Baseball

  11. Spirituality in baseball • Baseball teaches us, or has taught most of us, how to deal with failure. We learn at a very young age that failure is the norm in baseball and, precisely because we have failed, we hold in high regard those who fail less often, ---those who hit safely in one out of three chances and become star players. I also find it fascinating that baseball, alone in sport, considers errors to be part of the game, part of its rigorous truth • Francis T. Vincent Jr., Commissioner of Baseball

  12. Spirituality teaches us, or has taught most of us, how to deal with failure. We learn at a very young age that failure is the norm in life… Errors are a part of the game, part of its rigorous truth.

  13. perfection • Matthew 5:48 Be ye perfect as your father in heaven is perfect • Totally discouraged

  14. CS Lewis in Mere Christianity…..regarding our Lord’s words “be ye perfect” some people seem to think this means unless you are perfect, I will not help you; and as we cannot be perfect, then, if He meant that, our position is hopeless. But I do not think He did mean that. I think he meant; the only help I will give is help to become perfect. You may want something less, but I will give you nothing less. • Our Lord is like a dentist. You go in with a toothache, and he wants to fix everything.

  15. Dozens of people go to Him to be cured of some particular sin which they are ashamed of ,or which is obviously spoiling daily life. Well he will. All right, but he will not stop there. That may be all you asked, but if once you call Him in, He will give you the full treatment. That is why He warned people to “ count the cost” before becoming Christians. Make no mistake, He says; if you let me I will make you perfect. The moment you put yourself in My hands, that is what you are in for. Nothing less. You have free will, and if you choose, you can push me away. But if you do not push me away, understand that I am going to see this job through. I will never rest nor let you rest until you are literally perfect. This I can do and will do. But I will not do anything less.

  16. We shall often have to bow down and weep at the feet of Jesus because of our shortcomings and mistakes, but we are not to be discouraged. Even if we are overcome by the enemy, we are not cast off, not forsaken and rejected of God. SC64

  17. Re-creation The leaven of truth[a reference to the Holy Spirit] works secretly, silently, steadily, to transform the soul. The natural inclinations are softened and subdued. New thoughts, new feelings, new motives, are implanted. COL98

  18. E.G. W • If we will but keep our eyes fixed on the Savior, and trust in his power, we shall be filled with a sense of security, for the righteousness of Christ will be, our righteousness… We dishonor him bite talking of our inefficiency; instead of looking at ourselves, let us constantly behold Jesus MYP 107
