AARLIN aims to create a national virtual research library system for Australian universities, providing access to library collections, research databases, and document delivery services. The portal pilot project started in 2000 at La Trobe University. The initiative is funded by participant contributions, Australian Research Council Grant, and the Department of Education, Science, and Training. The project involves developing a network infrastructure to support research, with phased development stages and focus on seamless, immediate, and personalized user access. The platform integrates various research information systems and enhances researchers' information seeking processes.
