  2. This story took place in the ocean… • The Phoenix was a 60 foot sail boat • They sailed in the Pacific Ocean • CNC stands for Charting a New Course • “Charting a New Course is about casting off your old life for a new and better one.”

  3. Characters in the story…. • Captain Cascadden • Mr.Radford- the first mate • Luke, JJ, Will, Lyssa, Charla and Ian

  4. The kids had to go through court… • because they got in trouble. • they were sentenced to go on CNC.

  5. Later the ship was sinking… • The Captain was lost at sea and the first mate left them. • They all went overboard when the ship was on fire and they couldn’t find JJ or Lyssa, but they were able to float together on a raft for days. • Only 3 fit on the raft so they took turns hanging on the side. All they had to drink was rainwater they collected in a hat.

  6. They all had different imaginations on how they got on the the island. They were just happy they made it to dry land. The next book is Island II: Survival and I can’t wait to see what happens.
