  2. Objectives • To provide an understanding of the process for developing the Career Development Competency Plan • To review the Intern Performance Review process and its link to the CDCP. • To review the alignment of training and development in support of the competencies.

  3. Career Development Competency Plan -A comprehensive approach to the overall development of an Intern’s experiences during his/her tenure with a corporate client. -It is the foundation that shapes the internship experience -It defines the criteria for performance in behavioral terms

How They Fit Together • Professional Development & Training • Links Intern participation in Facilitator led courses, e-learning, and webinars to competency development and performance • Career Development Competency Plan • Focuses on development of a set of skills, behaviors and characteristics “Competencies” • Evaluation Process (Midsummer & Final) • Based on Intern’s individual achievement of competency based learning objectives

  5. Definitions Competency:a set of behaviors when combined, demonstrate a level of skill or ability exists. Its what top performers are more likely to do, more often and more consistently, for better business results. Learning Objective: the actions or tasks/assignments that will be assigned to the intern to demonstrate a certain competency.

  11. Take a Closer Look -Review CDCP-Evaluation Form -Review Completed Sample -Review Training Curriculum with Competencies

  12. Implementation -Determine timetable for identification of competencies and learning objectives -Determine timetable for submission of Mid-summer and Final-Summer Review Forms.

The Process Step 1-CDCP Development • Supervisor identifies which 4-5 competencies the Intern will focus on for the summer • Supervisor determines learning objectives (activities to support Intern demonstration of skill mastery , development or competency) Step 2-Evaluate Progress • Supervisor evaluates Intern on progress at the mid-summer • Supervisor evaluates Intern on level of demonstrated skill at the end of summer
