  5. Homework • My goal for this week: ___________________________ • Reading Log/ Language Arts : • Due every Friday • Read 4 nights a week • Read 20 - 30 min. each night • Can include parent read aloud

  6. Homework • Math Homework: • Given daily Monday – Thursday • Due each morning • Occasionally: Give a speech

  7. Accelerated Reader • 9 points a trimester • About one 4th-grade level book a month • Students usually score better by reading several shorter novels rather than one giant one! • Students can take tests in the classroom or in the library.

  8. DFC (Detective First Class) * Responsible behavior * Responsible for work (homework/ in class) * Responsible with library book Earn: Falcon slips, class award, and self-respect

  9. SMART Goal for the district: 90% of the students will perform at Proficient or Advanced on the math and language arts CSTs. Descriptive Feedback “Great job” Instead: “I like the way you used adjectives in your writing. Next time, try . . .”

  12. Daily Schedule 7:50 Turn in homework, get ready for the day! 7:55 AM Bell Before recess: H.M. Reading Guided Practice Reading (Literature groups) H.M. Writing Brain Jog 10:20 AM Recess & Snack (healthy, please!)

  13. Daily Schedule Cont. After recess: Math tutorials or library Read Aloud 12:20 Lunch, then recess (20 min. each) After lunch: Social Science/Science , CLUE, PE 2:15 Dismissal

  14. Let’s Celebrate Wellness!!! • BIRTHDAYS: • Please, NO class birthday “treats” • You may purchase a book for the school library in your child’ name as a special gift • Healthy snacks at recess • Water Bottles - take home nightly

  16. SMART ART: Tie-Dye ShirtsOn Friday, Sept. 30 we are making tie-dye T-shirts.Please send your child with a labeled white T-shirt in size that will fit ALL year (go BIGGER) by no later than September 26.
