ConNext

The .ConNext. program for 2013-2014, led by Leticia Guadarrama and the Multilingual Department Team, focuses on innovation and professional growth in education. With a structured online learning platform, participants engage in sessions that promote the development of instructional artifacts that align with Focused Instruction and SOEI (Student Outcomes and Engagement Index). The program fosters collaboration among new EL hires and selected teachers, enhancing technical skills and commitment to using technology in the classroom. Participants share experiences through blogs and social media while documenting progress according to NSRF protocols.

Focus Areas • Innovation and professional growth.  • Development of a collection of artifacts that support Focused Instruction and SOEI. • Technical skills in context. • Structured online learning and discussion sessions following the National School Reform Faculty protocols. • The unConference learning platform.

  3. Participants • All new 2013-14 EL hires • 15 current teachers (selected via application) • A network of school and district administrators

  4. Participant Expectations • Engage in all sessions, commit to apply learning, share in learning groups and at campuses, document progress following NSRF protocols. • Be actively involved in new media and social media venues of sharing (i.e. Blogs, Twitter, and other connecting venues). • Commitment to Focused Instruction and SOEI.

  5. Participant Expectations • Meet monthly F2F: Face-to-Face . • Mid-year and end-of-year community share via unConference format . • Include opportunities for classroom swaps/visits at least 1x per year per team

Results • Direct impact on SOEI, student engagement, focused instruction, and use of technology to enhance learning outcomes. • Increased student achievement driven by formative assessment and reflective CFGs. • An online archive of technology integration aligned with Focused Instruction and SOEI, tech & global collaboration projects.
