  2. Reasons for planning • For teachers Evidence of a plan shows that teacher has devoted time to think about the class. • For students • A plan gives the lesson a framework, an overall shape. • A plan helps to remind teachers what they intend to do.

  3. A proposal for action • Not the instruction for action. (Teachers have to adapt to changing circumstances that they understand the lesson plan is not fixed in stone.) • Teachers need to be flexible enough to cope with unforeseen events.
