  1. National Poetry Day 2012 “STARS” Poems by 8H

  2. “Stars” by Blaine Campbell, 8H S is for how small you look. T is for the tingle noise you make. All stars are very big. R is for stars that are like giant rocks. S is for shooting stars.

  3. “Stars” by Fionntan Campbell, 8H Stars are really good to look at in the dark because they are so bright. The most beautiful thing at night. Astronauts go up to the stars and explore them. Really twinkling and sparkling.

  4. “Stars” by Dylan Colton, 8H When I grow up I’ll show my children your beauty, Because I will always remember, You never cease to amaze me. Stars, oh stars, your beautiful shine Never ceases to amaze me. Your dot of light, Makes me plea. When you fall, I cry A river of tears. When you come to life, I run outside to see, And then I rebirth the tears.

  5. “Stars” by Aoife Devlin, 8H They are pretty, they are fine, They’re the world’s greatest design. They have the world’s largest house, Though they look smaller than a mouse. They are criminals the way they shoot, They are models the way they look. Beautifully soaring through the sky, But when they die we almost cry.

  6. “Starry Night” by Jamie Donnelly, 8H S is for stars. Stars are lovely at night. T is for the time they come out at night. A is for astronauts, the men who can go up and see them. R is for the stars rushing through the dark sky. S is for shooting star - it looks nice at night.

  7. “Wild Stars” by Karolis Guzulaitis, 8H Stars, stars, they’re so wild they run through the sky – all their freedom in the sky. You’re lucky to see the racing stars running free in the sky. We wish to touch the stars and be as free as them. Their pointy ends, their glittering bodies and so many to see, like eyes in the sky.

  8. “Stars” by Niall Kilpatrick, 8H Saw you in my eye Taunting me to look up at the sky Although with the state in Ready for it all to begin Stars make night so bright.

  9. “Stars” by Sarah Kilpatrick, 8H Stars are so bright, Terrific with no light, Attractive and fair, Rushing through the air.

  10. “The Bright Stars” by Linas Macionas, 8H Stars, stars, beautiful stars, very bright and beautiful. Rushes down and disappears in a flash. First it is in a shape, Then it is single, But later it blows up, To create new stars.

  11. “Stars” by Brenna Mallon, 8H Stars are very bright, They are quite the sight! A twinkling light in the sky, Rushing as the day goes by!

  12. “Stars” by Xing McCoy Rock, 8H S stands for shooting star in the night sky. T is for telescope for zooming in and out. A stands for astronomy every single night. R is for Red Riding Hood who loves the stars shining bright. S is for sun that shines every day but never in the night.

  13. “Stars in the night sky” by Matthew McCreesh, 8H Shining stars light up the night. Tiny ones are just as bright As colossal ones that are so giant. Rockets and shuttles have gone so far, So we can find out just what they are.

  14. “Stars” by Conor McGarrity, 8H Stars, stars, stars, we love to call them ours. We’d love to grab one in our arms. I love to look at stars. They shine, I love to call them mine. The little light most out of sight. My favourite is the bear. I like it because of its brown hair.

  15. “Those Stars!” by Una McGeough, 8H Oh those stars how they twinkle brightly in the sky! I wonder if they ever die? Be prepared, for you must know A shooting star could shoot past your home. Close your eyes and make a wish, Then look up, they might have formed a fish! Interesting as they are, Even though they are very far. That’s my twinkling star!

  16. “Stars” by Cara McNulty, 8H Stars are joyful and they can really cheer you up when you’re feeling blue. Even if your life has changed before your eyes, they can bring an expanding smile to your face. Tell them your secrets and tell them your fears. I’m sure they’ll understand and they definitely won’t tell. Just tell them what’s on your mind. The thing that cheers me up is a sparkling, mini sun staring down at me.

  17. “Stars” by Amy McVeigh, 8H So pretty up in the sky. Tiny, although enough to be seen by the eye. At night sparkles and shines. Really pretty, the night sky is my favourite time. Sparkle and shine like tiny lights.

  18. “Stars” by Lucy McVeigh, 8H Shining stars up in the sky, Twinkling up there way up high. “Aren’t you beautiful?” everyone says, Really gorgeous in so many ways. Sparkling like diamonds.

  19. “Stars” by Sean McVeigh, 8H Stars are wonderful, they make me want to smile. The best of all is the bear but you cannot see his hair. A star shines above the sky, like a glowing light. Roar goes the bear and woof goes the dog, Shine, goes the stars, stars, stars.

  20. “Big Stars” James O’Neill, 8H Stars look small in the sky, They are in fact very big, And very bright at night, Really they are! Stars shoot around space.

  21. “Night Sky” by Meabh O’Neill, 8H Stars are wonderful things. We gaze up at them, while they watch us below. They twinkle in the night sky Like a thousand sparkling eyes. Just like a piece of gold. Shooting star, Make me a wish. Fire through the sky. You are so bright. You are my light.

  22. “Stars” by Afonso Tereso, 8H Sometimes I wonder what you are, Tiny little lights Above my sight. Rising above the sky So, so bright. Stars are so bright Telescope will not reach their light. At night you are bright Rising above my sight. Sun, why not shine at night?

  23. “Stars” by Rebecca Walton, 8H How beautiful are the stars, I look in wonder from afar. How ambient, shining bright, Accompanied by the moonlight. George Clooney ain’t got nothing on you, You shine like the tip of a brand new shoe. Bursts of light in the distance stare, A million lights watching over with loving care.
