  2. 2012 OPTN Results • OPTN expenditures: $37.9M, budget: $36.4M • OPTN expenditures 4.3% above budget • Implementation and integration costs of OPTN data systems • Funding sources for $37.9M expenses • $2.5M federal appropriations • $35.4M in registration fees

  3. 2012 OPTN Results • OPTN registration funding --$31.4M • 52,044 registrations @ $603 • Lower than expected registrations = 3.3% ($1.1M) below funding budget

  4. 2012 OPTN Results • Excess or (shortfall) = revenues less OPTN expenses : ($4.1M) • Funding excess or shortfall varies by year depending on number of registrations, funding sources, and expenditures. • OPTN registrations -- $1.1M less than budget • OPTN spent $1.8 M above budget • $885,000 in Federal funds last year instead of this year. • Spent $500,000 in OPTN cash this year to make budget.

  5. 2012 OPTN Results • OPTN financial operations evaluated as part of UNOS’ annual audit. • Audit used Governmental Auditing Standards and OMB Circular A-133 • OPTN financial operations met these standards; no findings identified.

  6. 2012 UNOS Results • UNOS revenues--$48.3M • UNOS expenses --$46.2M • Change in net assets --$2.1M. • Budget anticipated change in net assets --$370,000.

  7. 2012 UNOS Results • Components of budget variance: • $600,000 --additional contributions • $600,000 --timing of Chrysalis revenues and expenditures • $500,000 --OPTN proposal costs (to bid on next OPTN contract) • Planned for but not spent in FY 2012 • Bid costs will be incurred in FY 2013

  8. 2012 UNOS Results • Audit of UNOS financial statements used Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Government Auditing Standards • UNOS received unqualified or ‘clean’ audit opinion • UNOS is considered a ‘low-risk auditee’ • UNOS in compliance with required financial covenants
