Professional Development: EdTech Leaders Online Model • Goal: Build state capacity to use online learning • Two key online training programs • Facilitating & Implementing online PD • Designing & Delivering online courses • Semester-long online training course • 30 online workshops: project-based; grade/subject specific • Format: online readings, resources, hands-on & multimedia activities, online discussions, final product • Learning community / cohort model • Ongoing planning and implementation support • National support forum • Graduate credit options

Major Grant Goals • Develop, within each participating state and public broadcasting organization, the capacity to use e-learning with a specific focus on high need schools and districts • Create a multi-state collaboration to define common standards, share resources and expertise, and support state program • Develop a cadre of skilled e-Learning for Educators instructors

  7. Goals - continued • Use e-learning to provide effective professional development • Develop model e-learning courses that address critical state needs and provide exemplars • Develop a cadre of skilled e-Learning for Educators course developers

  8. Goals - continued • Conduct scientifically-based research to determine the effectiveness of the e-Learning for Educators initiative • Establish a proven, scaleable and sustainable model for e-learning professional development programs

Key Features of the e-Learning for Educators Model • Online professional development to provide an accessible and effective means to impact teacher quality and student achievement • Partnership of public television stations and state departments of education to lead state programs • Courses and plans aligned to state goals and ongoing professional development programs • Capacity-building approach
