  1. Extraordinary General Meeting – EGM24th March 2007 – 2:00 pm • Why? • Propose club’s future directions • Member’s input • It’s in the Club Constitution

  2. PENINSULA SOCCER CLUB • A NEW BEGINNING

  3. 2006 Team Breakdown • 17 teams • U7’s to U16’s • One girls team • Two Bayside Senior Teams

  4. 2007 Team Breakdown • 23 teams • 35% increase • U6’s to U18’s • One girls team • Two Bayside Senior Teams

  5. Current Club Issues • Lighting on top ground – added 3 new lights to improve training and better use of ground • Car park facilities (being upgraded in 2007 by FCC) • Playing strip , Equipment & Storage • Change room facilities

  6. What does this club need the most ? • Football Expertise • At present there is an accepted absence of Football specialists within our club.

  7. WHY ? • There has been no incentive for our older playing children to remain at the club. • No incentive for parental involvement in club because they see it as short term involvement for their child. • Unless new players come to the club and bring with them parents who are experienced and they can see a future for their kids in the club, we can’t change this situation.

  8. The Way forward • No need for our players to leave our club in order to continue their career. • No longer will Peninsula Soccer Club be a grooming ground for other clubs to reap the benefit of their hard work. • The players themselves will create their own history.

  9. The first step • The introduction of the Bayside Seniors has given this club a massive boost. Younger players now see the seniors play on a Sunday and the impact has been massive. • Opportunities exist for our third tier players 14-18 to be exposed to a senior system • Unfortunately this current senior system needs to be revised to give any of our players the chance of remaining at the club.

  10. Future Senior Directions and Benefits DIRECTION • Appointment of Senior Coach with qualifications – that’s done • Shift from Bayside to FFV • Give players both alternatives BENEFITS • Retains players at club • Give the player the opportunity to go somewhere within the club • Increases players interest in the club

  11. Is this possible • Bayside Premier Division to FFV premier – 7 divisions • Provisional 3 • Provisional 2 • Provisional 1 • State League 3 • State League 2 • State League 1 • Premier League ( Soon to be V League ) • Only the league winner is promoted to next league. • If you were to win each league in your first attempt - six years. • highly unlikely

  12. COST • $2,000.00 to Register team in FFV • $200.00 to Register team in Bayside • Player registration Fees also increase in FFV.

  13. CLUB REQUIREMENTS FOR FFV • In order to be admitted to the FFV a number of conditions are imposed on the Club. • No ground can have a cricket pitch in the middle. • At least 4 change rooms are required plus referee facilities. • The higher grade you get the more conditions are imposed. Eg High Perimeter fencing, Toilet blocks etc. • There is a far greater admittance fee required by clubs should they wish to compete in the FFV. • Costs increase for playing and non playing staff as the grade of competition progresses.

  14. Can our facilities cope? • NO • with our current set up and ground situations we cannot meet the requirements for FFV admittance.

  15. Will We Ever • Without the cricket club vacating Delacombe Park and cricket pitches being removed our grounds will not be deemed suitable. • Our current change room / pavilions will also not meet the required FFV standards. Without the massive injection of funds this will not be rectified.

  16. Solution • Endeavour to locate a club in our region which lacks a current junior development program. • Find a club ready to invest in the youth of the future in order to survive long term. • Find a way for the youth of Peninsula Soccer Club to remain with the club for their career. • We have found the club and have agreed an initial joint venture. • This is why we are here.

  17. Who is it ? Frankston Strikers Soccer Club

  18. Why? • Frankston Strikers is the most viable entity in our area to join with us in this future direction. • Frankston Strikers have no current Junior development program. • Frankston Strikers are already a viable entity competing in State League 3 of the FFV and have been for a number of Years.

  19. Frankston Strikers Soccer Club • Frankston Strikers Soccer Club was formed in December 1993 with the amalgamation of 25 year old Karingal United Soccer Club and 6 year old Frankston United Soccer Club and Frankston United Junior Soccer Club • Promotion from Division 4 in 1994 to State League Division 3 in 1995 where they finished the season very strongly in 3rd position. • Won the 1996 Division 3 Premiership and finished third in Division 2 in 1997 • 5th in Division 2 in 1998 and fourth in Division 2 in 1999 • 1st in Division 2 in 2000 • 11th in Division 1 in 2001 and relegated • 8th Division 2 South-East in 2002 • 4th Division 2 South-East 2003 • 11th Division 2 South-East 2004 and relegated and Division 3 South East 2005

  20. How will this work? • Peninsula Strikers Football Club – PSFC • We will be one Club with two football departments. • The Junior Club will operate out of Delacombe Park. All costs and income associated with the Junior teams will be met and managed by the Junior Football department. • Clubs to be run as separate financial entities for year 1 or longer as deemed necessary. • No Funds from either club will be paid to each other in order to facilitate the joint venture. • Committee members from both clubs will attend each others meetings

  21. How will this work? • The Senior Football department will operate out of McClelland Drive campus. • All costs and income arising out of the Senior Football department will be met and managed by the Senior Football department. • Members from the Junior department will be involved in committee decisions made by the Senior Football department.

  22. Advantages • The introduction of Senior Football staff to the progression of the Junior players. • It is in the interests of the Senior Football department to invest in the football expertise of the Junior Players. They will in turn become the future of the Peninsula Strikers Football Club. • A single purpose venue available all year round to assist with pre season training and specialist football clinics for the Junior players. • Be involved with a club only 3 grades below the A league. • Good Social facilities for more functions & combined functions

  23. Advantages • We will save immediately in ground improvements. • We will save a minimum of 6 years of competition to qualify for the highest grade of football available outside the A league.

  24. THE KEY ADVANTAGE SOMEWHERE FOR OUR JUNIOR PLAYERS TO CONTINUE THEIR FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT AND STILL BE PART OF A FAMILIAR CLUB SYSTEM THEY KNOW

  25. THE DISADVANTAGE • The philosophy of Frankston Strikers differs in many ways to Peninsula. • They are a senior club which may be a major reason for this • The perception of Frankston Strikers within the Football community • The financial perception of Frankston Strikers

  26. How do we address this? • Working together to better understand the Senior Club • Make the new Club change the perception of people in the community • Work in an open book environment and communicate financials to all members

  27. So what changes to PSC ??? • Nothing ……….. It gets better • Same Venue • Same players • Same people running the Junior Department • Same Junior Enjoyment Philosophy • … and we get the Senior knowledge down to all levels of the juniors

  28. What about our history ? • Our history as the Peninsula Junior Soccer Club and most recently the Peninsula Soccer Club will never be lost. • Our identity will never be lost… • We have introduced a ready made football department … • We can concentrate our efforts on these younger players knowing we have a system in place for them.

  29. What about our history ? • Peninsula Soccer Club will now form part of the history of the Peninsula Strikers Football Club. • Now we make history…………….

  30. Where to from here ? • Set up an independent committee formed by members of both clubs to work through the legal and financial aspects of the future club. • and • We vote right now to go ahead or stay as we are.

  31. Some other designs

  32. Soon we will have a competition for the design of a new club identity logo
