  1. Android 8.0 Oreo Complete List of New Features and Changes The latest Google Android 8.0 Oreo deployment of updates is planned for Nokia smartphones, according to the official Google blog. Even HMD has repeatedly confirmed that all Nokia Android smartphones, including Nokia 3, will get Android Oreo. So far, Nokia 8 and Nokia 6 2018 have received the stable version Android Oreo version, while Nokia 5 and 6 users have received Android beta Oreo. Android Oreo 8.0 brings many new features such as picture-in-picture, auto-fill, built-in instant apps, Google Play Protect, faster startup, and many more. This new version of Android is boon for Android app developers, as it has made Android app development hasslefree with many sought-after features. You can read the complete and detailed changelog for Nokia Android smartphones below. Android Oreo vs Android Nougat: New Features and Changes ● The Night Light function makes the screen orange to make it suitable for use in night or low light conditions. This feature is not even available on Nexus smartphones and that's why it's nice to see it on Nokia 8. You can either manually enable / disable this feature, or schedule it to enable / disable it automatically for a period of time. fixed time. You can even control the intensity of the night light. ● Now you can drag from anywhere on the home screen to open the application drawer or application list as you want to call it. Multitasking and UI Changes

  2. ● Picture-in-Picture (PIP) allows users to manage two tasks simultaneously on any size screen, and applications can easily support it. Applications supporting PIP mode will continue to play in a small window even if you switch to another application or the home screen. Here is the list of applications that support PIP mode and how to activate and use this mode. ● Notification Center and the quick action buttons have undergone a complete redesign. Please check the demonstration video above to see how the notification center and quick action button have changed from Nougat to Oreo ● The settings page has undergone a complete redesign with submenus nicely hidden under the main menus. Even the submenus have advanced settings placed under an expandable title. ● Android Oreo brings the ability to change the shape of the default circle application icons to Squircle, Square, Cylindrical and others. ● Ambient Display on Nokia and other Android smartphones wake up your lock screen for a few seconds when a notification arrives. This feature is not available on Nokia 8 because it comes with the Glance screen feature. Notification Changes ● Notification Dots extend the scope of notifications and offer a new way to surface in your applications. Dots work effortlessly for most applications - we even extract the color from your icon. ● The Notifications category lets you choose which notification to show or hide in a particular application ● Notifications can be suspended from the display in the notification center ● Notifications select the album artwork as a background in the notification center and on the lock screen when you play music Improvements in Usability ● Autofill Framework simplifies the way users configure a new device and synchronize their passwords. Applications using form data can optimize their applications for autofill and password management applications can use the new APIs to make their services available to users in their favorite applications. Autofill will be fully deployed in the next few weeks as part of an update to Google Play services. ●Smart Text Selection: Google applies machine learning on the device to copy / paste, to allow Android to recognize entities such as addresses, URLs, phone numbers, and email addresses. This improves the copy / paste experience by selecting the entire entity and surfing the right applications to perform an action based on the entity type. Other Changes

  3. ● Enjoy the brand new Emoji collection as part of Android Oreo. Under the Hood - ●System Optimizations: We worked through the system to help applications run faster and easier. For example, at runtime, we added a new place recovery, a code locale, and more. ●Background Limitations: We've added new limits on background location and Wi-Fi scans and changes in the way apps run in the background. These limits prevent unintentional overuse of the battery and memory and apply to all applications. Make sure you understand them and take them into account in your applications. ●Android dashboards and complementary profiler’s Android: In Play Console, you can now see aggregated data on your application to help you identify common problems- excessive crash rate, ANR rate, frozen frames, slow rendering, excessive wake up, etc. You will also find new performance profiles in Android Studio 3.0 and new instruments in the platform. For Android App Developers ●Auto sizing text view: Use Automatic Text View to automatically fill a Text View with text, regardless of the amount. You can create an array of predefined text sizes or set min and max sizes with step granularity, and the text will expand and shrink to fill the available Text View space. ●Fonts in XML: Fonts are now a fully supported resource type. You can now use fonts in XML layouts and define font families in XML format. ●Downloadable fonts and emoji: With downloadable fonts, you can load fonts from a shared provider instead of including them in your APK file. The vendor and support library manage font downloads and share them between applications. The same implementation also supports downloadable emoji, which allows you to get updated emoji without being limited to the built-in emoji. ●Adaptive Icons: You can now create adaptive icons that the system displays in different forms, depending on a mask selected by the device manufacturer. The system also animates the interactions with the icons and uses them in the launcher, shortcuts, settings, sharing dialog boxes and in the overview screen. Adaptive icons are displayed in different forms on different device models. ●Pinning shortcuts: App shortcuts and home screen widgets are great for attracting users. Now you can let users add and pin shortcuts and widgets to the launcher from your app. There is also a new option to add a specialized activity to help users create shortcuts. The activity is complete with custom options and a confirmation. ●Extensive color gamut for applications: Imaging applications can now take full advantage of new devices with a wide-range color display. To display wide-range images, applications turn on an indicator in their manifest files (by activity) and load

  4. bitmaps with a large embedded color profile (AdobeRGB, Pro Photo RGB, DCI-P3, and so on). ●Web View Enhancements: In Android Oreo, we enabled the default Web View multiprocessor mode and added an API to allow your application to handle errors and crashes. You can also enable Web View objects in your app to check URLs through Google Safe Browsing. ●Java 8 Language API and Runtime Optimizations: Android now supports several new Java APIs, including the new java time API. In addition, the Android Runtime is faster than ever, with improvements of up to 2x on some application benchmarks.
