CLA-1/SR-BI Protein: Regulating Cholesterol Removal and Inhibition of Inflammatory Response

This study explores the role of CLA-1/SR-BI protein in promoting cholesterol removal from peripheral cells. It highlights how PPARa activators regulate CLA-1 expression in differentiated human macrophages and induce cholesterol efflux and reverse cholesterol transport. Additionally, it discusses the involvement of PPARs in the vascular wall, the transrepression mechanisms of PPARa, and the key role of NFkB in the inflammatory response. The inhibitory effect of PPARa activators on the NFkB signaling pathway is modeled, and the study concludes with the inhibition of IL-1b-induced Cox-2 expression in SMC by PPARa activated by fibrates.
