  2. Purposes of PaCT • To support teachers to make reliable and consistent judgments in relation to the National Standards • To show a student’s progress over time

  3. Aspects for Writing • Writing meaningful text: encoding • Writing meaningful text: using knowledge of text features • Writing meaningful text: vocabulary knowledge • Using writing to clarify and develop ideas and information for learning • Creating texts to communicate knowledge and understanding • Creating texts for literary purposes • Creating texts to influence others

  4. Aspects for Reading 1. Making sense of text: using a processing system 2. Making sense of text: using knowledge of text structure 3. Making sense of text: vocabulary knowledge 4. Making sense of text: reading critically 5. Reading to organise ideas and information for learning 6. Acquiring and using information and ideas in informational texts 7. Reading for literary experience

Development Timeframe 2013 • Term 1 2013 - trialling of reading and writing (80 schools) • Term 1 – website trial • Term 2 2013 – Reading and writing workshop trials • Term 3 2013 - national trial for mathematics commences (minimum 200 teachers) • Term 4 2013 - national trial for reading and writing commences (minimum 400 teachers) January 2014 • PaCT available for all schools Professional Development
