  2. Christmas supper – it contains of twelve dishes,these can be for example: • Fried carp • Carp in aspic • Mushrooms soup • Borsht • Fish soup • Kutia

  3. Cabbage with beans • Poppy-seed cake • Fruit compote • Noodles with poppy seed • Dumplings with cabbage and mushrooms

  4. First star • the sign of heaven which bring the news, over 2000 years ago, that Christ is born, it gives the permission to eat the Christmas supper .

  5. The Christmas tree • conifer, for example spruce It’ s essential in most polish houses, once decorated with fruits or candies and candles Today we place on it colorfully lights and a star on the top. Decorating the Christmas tree is an event for all family members.

  6. Carol • a song that people sing on the Christmas eve. Thanks to them the atmosphere is warm and nice

  7. The free plate on the Christmas table • When preparing the supper we leave one plate for the traveler – people, who are lonely or homeless, can come in and enjoy Christmas with the hosts.

  8. Wafer • Sharing the wafer and wishing eachother is a very pleasant custom. When we do it we forgive people all harms and wish all the best

  9. Hay under the table-cloth • one of the older traditions of Christmas. Its purpose is to remind that Christ lied in the hay between animals in the barn

  10. Presents • getting present, which can be found under the Christmas tree. Everyone has to find there something for themselves

  11. Midnight mass • At midnight the whole family goes to the church .We do it to pray and listen to the lords word

  12. Santa Claus • dressing as Santa Claus or an angel and giving children presents, which brings them much joy

  13. Carolers • people who come to our door and sing us carols. In the country they often wear colorful dresses. They are given some food or money Fast do not eat meat at Christmas eve

  14. Barn • place where Jesus Christ was born. We often have a little barn in our houses to remind us that HE is near
