  1. How to Stay Like A Local While You are in Lima Lima is huge and it can be daunting at times if you do not have proper guidance. Find here some useful tips if you want to skip the odds of paying expensive guides while you are in Lima. Lima is huge and if you have always wanted to explore the city from the grassroots levels, then here are some tips you can’t escape:

  2. Start your day by hiring a safe taxi after you land up from the airport. You can find plenty of taxis in front of the airport or you can hire an uber with the airport’s wi-fi. Note that taxi charge amounts from 60-65 Peruvian soles to the city center. Do not pay more in case they ask you more. • If you are planning to spend only one day in Lima then you can kick off by heading to Downtown Lima because this is one place in Lima where you can find a great shopping complex, restaurants, and cool places. When you arrive here ask the taxi driver to drop you at Plaza San Martin which is a UNESCO HERITAGE Site established to honor Peru’s Liberator-Don Jose De San Martin.

  3. After this you can make your way to Plaza De Armas which is located at the city’s main square-here you will stumble upon many popular bars, cafes, and popular colonial balconies. • At Plaza de Armas you will spot 3 buildings that symbolize 3 powers-the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the Municipal Weather. Spend at least 2-3 hours at this square and explore it like a pro without a local guide.

  4. If you really need a guide you can walk near the Presidential Palace where you can find plenty of travel agents offering guided tours of the entire city and the Pacific Ocean. • If you want to get a bird’s eye view of Lima’s head to San Cristobal Hill, where you can also enjoy some authentic Peruvian food named after Peruvian heroes.

  5. Later in the afternoon, you can head to Barranco a lively district renowned for its interesting art culture, live music, and spectacular views of Bajada de Banos. • In the evening you can make your way to Miraflores for one of a kind Peruvian dinner. Some of the best restaurants here include Tanta Restaurant, for the beer you can head to Nuevo Mundo Draft Bar, La Emolienteria, etc.
