  2. The Cow The cow mainly moos as she chooses to moo And she chooses to moo as she chooses. She furthermore chews as she chooses to chew and she chooses to chew as she muses.   7. Supporting with spellings homework • Spelling books are sent home on a Monday and children have a spelling test on a Friday. • Look, cover, write, check • Writing words in sentences • High Frequency Words/Tricky words • Topic Words

  8. Supporting with handwriting • Pencil grip • Letter mat • Magic Pen • Making writing fun • Colourful pens and pencils • Variety of writing choices and paper

  9. Phonics Screening Check • Children will be screened for their ability to segment and blend sounds in real and nonsense words. • 40 words (20 real words 20 nonsense words) • Highlights the importance of children knowing all of their sounds and always sounding words out.
