Youth Services team • Youth Engagement Strategy vision – ‘Inclusion, Opportunity and Choice’ • Our role is to: • Deliver programs and services to meet young people’s needs • Support young people’s participation in decision-making • Support Council departments to engage with young people • Raise profile of young people and youth issues across Council and the community • Our target group is12-25 years of age

Programs and services • Counselling and individual support • Youth Voice committee • Youth Foundations grants program • L2P Learner Driver Mentor program • Loop • Short-film and web series program • FReeZA events, including National Youth Week events • School based programs, including dance workshops and Drumbeat • Place-based activities and outreach across Moonee Valley, including Flemington, Ascot Vale and Avondale Heights

Young people in Moonee Valley • Young people make up 16.5 percent of Moonee Valley’s population – nearly 19,000 young people • Data published recently by the State Government shows some of the key issues for young people (aged 10-17 years): • 20 percent reported very high levels of psychological stress (higher than Victorian average of 13 percent) • 60 percent reported that they had a trusted adult in their life (lower than Victorian average of 70 percent) • 73 percent reported that they were satisfied with the quality of their life (lower than Victorian average of 77 percent)
