Writing Process • Prewriting: Thinking – getting thoughts on paper • Planning: Thesis statement, main ideas rough outline (can change) • Drafting: Write it out from beginning to end (don’t worry about grammar & punctuation) • Revising: Seeing your work again – focus on content – make big changes – put time between you and your paper – share your ideas • Proofreading: Grammar, punctuation, transitions, format (editing) – read backwards
