  2. Gray Squirrel The gray squirrel lives all over the U.S. They also live in Mexico. Even though the name says they are gray they can also be brownish with white stomachs.

  3. Inherited traits • Brown/gray fur • Large bushy tails • Claws to climb trees • Thick fur for the winter • Very good eye sight

  4. Learned behaviors • Climb trees away from danger • Bury food and loose it later • Look out for danger • Break open nuts with teeth

  5. Instinctive behaviors • Take care of young • Protect food from other squirrels • To come out in late winter • Finds salt in snow and ice • To suckle from its mom
