The Wisdom of Confucius (copy this) • Born in 551 BC • Brilliant scholar • Became an advisor to a local ruler • Traveled around learning about government • Could not find a permanent gov’t job so he became a teacher • He never wrote down his teachings. His Philosophy • A philosophy is a system of ideas • Concerned with worldly goals, especially how to ensure social order and good government • Studied ancient texts to learn the rules that guided his ancestors.
