Offering a wide variety of PDE-approved graduate-level courses, the CPE Program at IU1 helps teachers acquire new knowledge and skills for classroom application. Courses operate on a trimester basis and can be used to fulfill educational requirements. Instructors are paid based on the number of participants, with support provided for course planning and logistics.

What are CPE Courses? • The CPE Program at IU1 offers a wide variety of graduate level PDE-approved courses addressing current educational issues, best practices, and content. • These courses are designed to assist teachers in the acquisition and application of new knowledge and skills to be used in the classroom settings. • The program operates on a trimester basis: Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer.
What are CPE Courses? The credits obtained by teachers are applicable toward the educational requirements of: • Level II Instructional or Level II Educational Specialist Certificate • Meeting continuing professional education (CPE) requirements (Act 48) • Master's Degree Equivalency Certificate (50% of credits can come from CPE) • 1 credit = 30 Act 48 Hours
Online Requirements • 2 weeks of in-class work per credit • 2 weeks to complete a Final Project
Face-to-Face Requirements • 14 hours of in-class work • This time does not include lunch or breaks • Face-to-face course examples: • Two 7-hour sessions on Saturdays (8 am – 4 pm) • Seven 2-hour sessions after-school • 16 hours of outside work • Final Project is due 2 weeks after the last class • Final Project must connect class content to classroom implementation
General Requirements • All courses must include a 20 item Pre- and Post-Test • Content-based • Multiple choice • Assesses participant attainment of the competencies

Final Dates for Course Submission • Please note: • Earlier submission will increase likelihood of room/date availability on preferred dates. • Any major revisions to the CPE Proposal will delay the delivery of the course to the next term. • Once an online course's content has been approved in Blackboard/Moodle, the course will be available in SolutionWhere for registration. The course can begin 6 weeks after it has been approved by Pam Hupp.

Pay Scale • Course Instructors are paid based on numbers of registrants. • 1 Credit Course • $500 for 6-9 participants • $800 for 10-15 participants • $900 for 16-29 participants • $1000 for 30-45 participants • $1100 for 46-60 participants
