  2. How do you stay Cyber Safe It is so easy to stay Cyber Safe, so make sure you try your hardest to do it. To stay Cyber Safe you need to: -know how to use the internet.-Have a strong password.-Keep your personal information safe.-know what to do about unsafe websites.-be aware of Cyber Bullying.-Have the latest software to keep your computer free of viruses. -know the rule of sites.

  3. StrongPasswords Part of staying Cyber safe is having a strong password, having a strong password will stop others from figuring it out so easily, and therefore they cannot hack into your account. And you are safe.

  4. Tips for a Strong Password Never give your password out to other people – don’t trust anyone with it. Use passwords that aren’t obvious – easy passwords make it easy for people to hack. Use a combination of letters, symbols and numbers – this makes it more complicated to get into. Never use personal information in password – these are the first combinations hackers will try. Have at least and eight character long password. Change your password regularly – it is recommended that you change your password every 6 months. Have all your passwords different – if you have a password that is the same for all your accounts and someone has hacked it, they have access to all your accounts

  5. PersonalInformation What do you do with your personal information online? Do you give it away to people? Do you no who you are giving it to? Remember that all people online might not be they say they are, so giving your information away is not the best decision. Do you keep your personal information safe, and only let people you no have it? Well that’s what you should do.

  6. Tips to keep Personal Information safe Never give out your Personal Information to people that you don’t know. This includes: Your name - always use a nickname. Phone number - home and cellular phone. Home address. School name. Your picture- also don’t put pictures of others on the internet without their permission. People aren’t always who they say they are. Because you can’t hear the person that you are communicating with speak, or see them with your own eyes, it would be very easy for them to mislead you.

  7. Cyber Safety To stay Cyber Safe you need to be aware of Cyber Bullying. Cyber Bullying is when a child or teen is harassed, humiliated, or embarrassed by another child or teen using a form of ICT, cellular phones, Internet- chat rooms, email, instant messaging. Children have killed each other or committed suicide after having been involved in a Cyber Bullying incident. If any of this happens to you tell a parent/guardian, teacher, or someone other that you trust.

  8. Viruses What is a Virus ? Viruses are man made or computer made programs or pieces of code that attach themselves to other pieces of software, causing negative effects. Every time the software is opened, the virus is activated and has an opportunity to reproduce and damage other programs and data files. Tips to stay Virus free 1.Ensure your desktop has the latest updates, and that your antivirus, firewall and intrusion detection protection are working properly and kept up to date. 2.Treat all email attachments with caution. Hackers frequently send viruses via email attachments; even files like word documents and Excel spreadsheets have carried viruses in the past. Make sure you know and trust the person sending you an email. Only open attachments that you are expecting. If in doubt, email the sender to check that the message is genuine.

  9. 3.Don’t try to unsubscribe or reply to spam. This confirms your email address to the spammer, and could lead you an infected website.4.Never buy from spam – you have no guarantee who is taking your details.5.Email addresses are easily forged. An email may not be from the person it says it is from. 6.Beware of phishing emails.  If an email or website asks for details that you’d expect them to know (such as your bank asking for your account number or PIN), be suspicious. No bank will ask for your PIN over email. 7.Never give your financial details over email. It is not secure and only phishes will ask you do this. 8.Never click on a link in an email as these links are frequently fake. Always open a browser and type in the URL. 9.Some websites have been set up by hackers specifically for criminal purposes. Things are not always what they seem online; the Internet is unregulated and you should be cautious of anything that seems suspicious. If an offer seems too good to be true – it probably is. Be sure that you are visiting the right site (by checking the URL), and check that when you’re accessing a secure site (for example, when you’re making a purchase online), that you can see a padlock sign at the bottom right of the screen. Check the content of the site – if the grammar is bad and the site looks to be low quality, then it may be fake. If in doubt, don’t use it. Don’t update your system because a website tells you to – this is a common way of a hacker installing a virus on your computer.

  10. Unsafe Websites • The internet is useful for a number of things, but there are also a number of great dangers you are exposed to while using it. You may not need to have an adult with you when you're using the internet but you do needto tell an adult when you are going to using it and if you find a bad or inappropriate website. And always tell an adult when you are going to do anything abnormal on the internet. • Some examples of permission needed activities are: • Entering an online competition • Meeting an online friend/chat mate in person • Downloading new software • Opening an attachment that came with an email • Signing up to a website • Giving away personal information • Signing up for something that requires you to pay for its use • Creating your own Website, Blog, Glog, Wiki, My space page, Bebo page, ect. • Printing out a picture, that you don’t know where it came from • Copying a picture or text off a website • Buying off the internet • Selling on the internet

  11. Use the right Language Always use appropriate language on the internet, and any other way of communication devices that you use. This means not teasing, and calling others names about there looks and race, and not swearing. Doing this can lead to consequences. If you are on some ones site, and start to call others names, and you swear, you will most likely will be blocked, or kicked off that site. Same with leaving a comment on someone’s blog or site, don’t write your site sucks or anything like that, because that can be harmful to their feelings, like what cyber bullying can do to others. How would you like it if someone did something like that to you. It would make you feel stink, so don’t do it. So when visiting someone else’s website remember treat others how you would like to be treated.
