Uniform Crime Report (UCR) • All crimes reported to the police • FBI tabulates all crimes yearly • Includes things such as offenses committed, persons charged, persons arrested, information on victims and offenders.

National Crime Victimization Survey • Survey vs. Report • Includes both reported and not reported crimes • Why wouldn’t people report some crimes??? • Sample of 49,000 households representing 10,000 people over age 12 about their experiences as victims of crime
NCVS • Crimes included: • Rape • Robbery • Assault (aggravated and simple) • Burglary • Larceny • Motor Vehicle Theft
