  1. STEPPED WEDGE & GAUGE Introducing A Better Tool For The Job

  2. Important Tools for a Pipefitting Welder • Welder’s Gauge • Pipefitter’s Square • Fitter Grips • Two Hole Pin Pipe Fitting Tool • Pipe Wraps

  3. Welder’s Gauge Pipefitters need to know the dimensions of each pipe and the precise angle at which each is to be bent. A little error can cause leakage. After the pipe has been fitted and welded together at its source, it is double-checked to ensure the angles are correct and that everything is aligned correctly. Pipefitters use the ‘quality control welder’s gauge’ to check the quality of pipes before they are fitted.

  4. Pipefitter’s Square The standard angle that pipes are usually bent to at their source is 45 or 90 degrees. Some jobs require different angles – that’s where the pipefitter’s square comes in handy. The square is used to ensure the pipe is aligned correctly.

  5. Fitter Grips While two pipes are being welded one to the other, the fitter grip is used to lock them together. It is also used when welding a pipe to a joint.

  6. Two Hole Pin Pipe Fitting Tool To make sure two bolt holes are aligned to one another at the exact same height. The pins are lined up with the middle of the bolt holes. After being tightened, the pipefitter lays a level across the pins to make sure they are aligned correctly.

  7. Pipe Wraps Used to mark pipes before cutting. The tape is wrapped around the pipe making sure that all edges are perfectly aligned where the wrap overlaps itself. A line is drawn by the pipefitter around the pipe with a sharp piece of soapstone. This ensures the pipe is cut straight.
