  3. Warren County ESC Preschool Program Philosophy We believe all children can learn and are natural learners. We value high quality learning environments and will work towards effective ongoing relationships with children, families and school districts. We recognize that communication is a critical foundation of our program.

  4. Welcome to Preschool! • What you need to know • Transportation – For typicals – parent For special needs – call district Special Ed. Supervisor – DO NOT CALL ESC about transportation – we are not involved! Springboro/Waynesville/Little Miami– Must call and fill out transportation form – call district transportation office!

  5. Welcome to Preschool! • What you need to know - • Open House at schools – too loud, too crowded for our age kids. Adult friendly, but NOT about kids - but we do think it’s important so set up time with teacher! Meeting the teacher – for young children it is better is a small quiet setting, The teachers will be in their room the week before school starts. They will be in contact with you by 8/22.

  6. Welcome to Preschool! • What you need to know - Attendance Your child should attend every day – please call the TEACHER if your child will not be at school – Consistency is critical!

  7. Welcome to Preschool! • What you need to know - Fees $45 special needs for materials $45 weekly for typicals – stay ahead! If you are having difficulty, please let us know asap, before I have to call you.

  8. About our staff • Director - mom of 3 (31, 27, 21) - M.Ed., post masters’ work Xavier - 34 yrs. Experience Teaching staff/aides/related staff Teachers – minimum B.A. in ECE, Sp. Ed – most have or are working toward Masters degree. Aides – certified by state, additional training Related staff – licensed in their respected areas

Our Sites/Classrooms • Northern Warren County • Franklin -2, Springboro -3, Waynesville -1 • Lebanon • Louisa Wright – 3, WCCC -1 shared • Itinerant Services • Four Full- time teachers • Southern Warren County • Kings – 1 at SLE, 1 at JFB • Little Miami – 2 We are serving over 400 children in our program as we start this year!

TENTATIVE START/STOP TIMES – BASED ON 2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR- MAY CHANGE • Franklin – 8:45 – 11:15/ 1:00 – 3:30 • Kings SLE –(MTTh) 8:35 – 11:15, (W)8:35 -10:35/ (MTTh) 12:30 – 3:15,(W) 12:30-2:30 • Kings JFB –(MTTh) 8:55 – 11:35, (W)8:55 -10:55/ (MTTh) 12:20 – 3:00,(W) 12:20-2:20 • Lebanon – (MTTh) 9-11:45, (W) 9:00-11:15 (MTTh) 1-3:45, (W) 12:30 -2:45 • Little Miami – 810– 10:40/ 1:00– 3:30 • Springboro – 9:10- 11:55/ 1:10 -3:55 • Waynesville – 8:40-11:30 / 12:45 – 3:30 • WCCC – 8:15 – 11:15/ 12:15 – 3:15 • *SUBJECT TO AND WILL CHANGE!!!!!!!!!

  11. Program Core Curriculum • The following areas are covered within our curriculum • Language Arts – reading/writing • Math- sorting/matching/counting • Science • Social Studies • Social Emotional Development • Aesthetic Development • Motor Development

  12. Language Arts • Pre-reading behaviors, skills and building blocks • Communication skills – following directions, asking questions, taking nonverbal cues

  13. Writing • Understanding that letters have meaning • Learning to write the letters in their name

  14. Math • Understanding 1 to 1 correspondence • Understanding time and basic money • Sorting/Matching

  15. Science • The weather and how it impacts what we wear • Our environment and the cool stuff we see every day.

  16. Social Studies • Getting along with others • Learning about our friends, neighbors, and the community

  17. Music and Art • Songs help us to learn • The building blocks to creating new things • Exploring our own creativity • Use of natural materials • Use of ongoing projects

  18. ESC Upcoming Events • August 27– First day of Preschool for Franklin/Waynesville/Lebanon • August 28- Springboro • Sept. 4- Little Miami and Kings

  19. Ways to Help • Find convenient times to talk with the teacher. Share emails, phone numbers,etc. • Volunteer to help in the classroom or to help plan class activity. • Respect individual differences in children and staff. • Communicate positively. • Stay consistent with your child.

  21. Questions *Three things to do – PLAY –floor time! Read to your child! Family meal time is critical! *You will hear from your teacher via email/letter/ phone call by 8/22. If you do not, please call Katie. We may not have correct info. *Breathe!! We know this is your child’s (and yours) first educational experience. The more relaxed you are, the better for everyone!
