  2. Michelangelo’s Birth place • Michelangelo was born in Caprese, a small town in the Florentine territory. • His full name was Michelangelo Di Lodovico Buonarroti. • Him and his family went back to Florence after a few weeks since he was born. • After overcoming parental obstacles he was apperenticed to Domenico Ghirlandaio. • When he was staying at the Ghirlandaio shop, that was the beginning of his sculpting career.

  3. When in Rome… • When Michelangelo was in Rome, he carved some of his first sculptures. • For example, The Bacchus and The St. Peter’s Pieta, which was finished by the end of the century. • It was gratefully finished and it showed how he mastered anatomy. • The Pieta was the thing that made him famous. • Then went back to Florence in 1501 as a famous sculptor.

  4. Back home • When he became a famous sculptor, he went back to Florence and stayed there until 1505. • While he was there he created The David, and the Bruges Madonna. • In 1503, he began the 12 Apostles for the Cathedral. • But he never completed the 12 Apostles. • Around then he made a painting of the Doni Tondo of the Holy Family.

  5. One after another • After he finished the David, he started a project for the Council Hall of the new Florentine Republic. • It remained unfinished and the grandiose project of employing him on decorating the city’s town hall returned back to nothing. • His next famous piece of art was the very famous roof of The Sistine Chapel.
