What is EWP? • EWP stands for Elevated Work Platform, is either a telescopic device, hinged device, articulated device or a combination of all these used to support a platform from which a material or persons can be elevated to a certain height or platform. • These are generally used for temporary or getting an access to a height either for a construction work, fire fighters, and for other purposes. • EWPs are designed to lift a certain weight to certain heights. Usually a single person operates the EWP and perform certain operations. For operating an Elevated Work Platform one needs a EWP Ticket or EWP Licence.

  3. What is EWP Licence? • EWP Licence is also known as a EWP Ticket which is required to operate an EWP within Australia. In Australia, if you want to operate any EWP then as per SafeWork NSW you must have a valid EWP Licence. • The candidate have to pass the basic training and assessment from a recognised training organisation in order to get a required licence. The basic EWP Course covers the basic knowledge and skills to operate a Boom Lift EWP. • Upon successfully completing this course, participants will have the required formal logbook training and assessment results to be eligible to apply for a High Risk Work Licence.

  4. EWP Course Outline • During the EWP Training Course the candidate will learn the following skills: • 1. Assessing hazards and planning the basic operations of EWP • 2. Conduction the routine machine checkups of the EWP • 3. Operating the Elevated Work Platform • 4. Shutting down and parking of the Elevated Work Platform • 5. Setting up the work with EWP • 6. How to load and unload the material and workmen • 7. How to reach at certain heights

Prerequisites • To get a valid EWP licence the candidate must: • 1. be atleast of 18 years of age • 2. have the ability to read, speak and write English language • 3. have to provide 100 points of identification • 4. have to pass the basic training and assessment • 5. be ready and willing to learn the skills and operations • 6. be a physically fit and attentive person.

  6. Other Details • The Duration of the EWP Course NSW is 3 days. In first two days, the basic training, skills and knowledge will be provided. While the assessment will be taken on the third day of the course. • After passing the assessment, the candidate will get a statement of attainment or course completion from the recognised training organization. • After that candidate can apply for the EWP Licence by filling an application to the SafeWork NSW. After that a High Risk Work Licence with a photograph will be issued to the candidate for 5 years.
