Application of 3D Printing on Human Skin

A fresh technique added in the 3D printing universe is “3D Printing on Human Skin”. It has been invented in a way as it can even react to small movements of the body during printing. This printer is able to track the hand using the markers and modify in the actual time to the movements and contours of the hand. Thus, the printing of the electronics maintains its circuit shape.

  1. Application of 3D Printing on Human Skin PRESENTED BY: 3D PRINTERS ONLINE STORE

  2. Conventional 3D printing technologies typically depend on open‐loop, rectify‐then‐print operation processes. Whereas, the fresh technique employs adaptive 3D printing, a closed‐loop technique that combines real‐time response control and direct ink writing of functional materials onto moving freeform surfaces.

  3. The hybrid fabrication technique combines 3D printing of electrical connects with automatic selecting‐and‐assigning of surface‐mounted electronic components. Using this very approach, the team was able to successfully print biological cell‐laden hydrogels cells on the skin wound of a mouse.

  4. For this fresh technique to work, they invented a method for the 3D printer to react to small movements of the body during printing. The system makes use of temporary markers that are placed on the skin as to scan the surface during printing. The printer employs computer vision to make amendments based on the surface movement in the actual-time.

  5. This printer is well capable to track the hand using the markers and modify in the actual time to the movements and contours of the hand. Thus, the printing of the electronics retains its circuit shape.

  6. The 3D printing system uses a particular ink made of silver flakes that cure and conduct at room temperature. To eliminate the 3D-printed features from the skin, the user just has to peel them off with tweezers or can wash it off with water.

  7. As a benefit, it is expected that this new technology could make path for new medical treatments. It is believed that using the technique it would be possible to print temporary sensors on soldiers in the battlefield to identify chemical & biological agents.

  8. Conclusion: To conclude, we can say this technique could lead to advanced treatments for patients dealing from skin diseases. The idea of printing electronics or cells directly on the skin is quite fascinating. Though, a simple idea but has limitless potential.
