El libro narra la historia del principito , contada por el propio autor y en algunos casos el mismo Principito, habla de cómo se conocieron en el desierto hasta la despedida final.El Principito es un niño llegado de otro planeta, el cual solo tiene tres volcanes y una hermosa flor, pese a esto, se encuentra muy sólo y decide viajar a otros planetas. Así, conoce a un rey absoluto, un vanidoso, un bebedor, un hombre de negocios, un farolero y un geógrafo, de los cuales no entiende ni su vida ni su trabajo, hasta que llega a la tierra, donde hace buenos y nuevos amigos, pero decide que su vida, no está en la tierra, sino en su pequeño planeta, con sus volcanes y su flor, para seguirlos cuidando y amando
