  1. What is the CZP? How do I apply? The Connecticut General Statues Section 27-61a provides for a Combat Zone Payment, given to veterans and current members of the Connecticut National Guard for serving in a combat zone. The candidate will need to complete an application form (Form CTMD CZP 5-1) and provide proof of having deployed to an area designated as a combat zone by the President of the United States. The most common and effective form of proof is a DD 214 that specifically states the dates during which the member was deployed to the combat zone. Applications can be obtained by calling (860) 524-4910 or by visiting the Military and Family Assistance Programs office at the above address. The application will also be available online but the website is currently under construction. Please check http://www.ct.gov/mil/ periodically for updates. Who is eligible? • There are four requirements that the applicant must meet in order to be eligible for the CZP. • The individual is a veteran or a current member of the Connecticut Army or Air National Guard. • The member was activated on or after September 11, 2001 for 90 consecutive days or more. • The member was or is going to deploy to a Combat Zone, designated as such by the President of the United States. • If the individual was discharged, the conditions of the discharge must be honorable or due to injuries sustained in the line of duty.

  2. How much can I receive? Combat Zone Payment (CZP) You can receive $50 for each month you were deployed to a combat zone as long as you were in the zone for at least 15 days of the month. February is the only exception, in which case you must have been in the zone for at least 14 days of that month. The maximum payment any eligible member or veteran may receive is $500.
