Today’s presentation introduces the Construction Health and Safety (CHAS) scheme and the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), designed to streamline health and safety pre-qualification processes. CHAS, launched by Merton Council, aims to reduce bureaucracy and improve compliance through mutual recognition between leading health and safety schemes. With over 29,500 contractors and 406 registered buyers, CHAS serves as the largest prequalification scheme in the UK. We will explore its history, current status, and future goals, as well as provide an opportunity for questions.
